October 11-13, the Russian national festival of science was held in National Research Irkutsk State Technical University. Irkutsk “Sibexpocentre” and museum of recreational science “Experimentariy” also took part in the project. Over 5,000 people participated in the festival. During the festival, for the first time they arranged a “Robotech-38” contest where robots made by students competed in various disciplines for three days.

13 teams from Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, Angarsk and Irkutsk took part in the contest. The teams presented some autonomous robots that competed in three categories: maze, sumo and point size ring. On completion of the contest the students of the Department being members of business incubator, took the first and the second prizes.

The contest of innovative projects was also held as part of this event where the students of the Department also won the first rightful place.

The Russian national festival of science was arranged by the Ministry of education and science and Lomonosov Moscow State University. The festival of science is held annually since 2006. In 2013 the festival events cover more than 70 regions of Russia. The central regional venues are Kursk and Irkutsk.
