The Department of engineering graphics and industrial design is developing the design concept of cardio wristlet jointly with India

Kirit Lakhani, the 2nd year Master student of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, arrived to TPU Institute of Cybernetics specifically to spend 3 weeks’ internship at the Centre of Industrial Design.

Kirit performed a specific research project: “Design of the external view and study design of the device for personal monitoring of cardiac activity with the possibility of an emergency alert. Age group of customers: from 40 years”. This subject is under active development of the Centre of Industrial Design in the framework of the project "Cardio wristlet" - the device for personal monitoring of cardiovascular activity.

"Collaboration of the TPU Center of Industrial Design , LLC "BioSens" in the name of Dmitry S. Medvedev and the 2nd year Master student from India, Kirit Lakhani, contributed to the creation of the design concept of cardio wristlet. During the internship Kirit developed the design of the external view of cardio wristlet, while suggesting several options of the cardio wristlet and taking into account the functional characteristics of the device. Also he studied the interface of the device. All model patterns were 3D printed, also he conducted a survey of the senior citizens to identify the best shape and user-friendly interface of the device", - says Vadim Seryakov, Acting Head of the TPU Center for Industrial Design about such collaboration.

Alena A. Zakharova, the Head of the Department of engineering graphics and industrial design and Director of the Institute of Cybernetics believes that this training will strengthen the partnerships between universities and promote the development of joint projects on an international level.

"We are interested in sharing experience with foreign colleagues. We look forward to further cooperation in the project activities and the expansion of the boundaries of academic mobility for students, graduates and employees in such important area as industrial design",- says Alena A. Zakharova.

FYI: last spring TPU arranged a full-scale advertising campaign in India to attract foreign students and develop partnerships with the leading universities of the country. There was signed an agreement with Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
