Faculty members of the Institute of Cybernetics made a visit to Finland in the framework of TEMPUS

Late August 2014 16 faculty members of four Russian universities, including from TPU which was represented by four members of the department "Automation and robotics in mechanical engineering" of the Institute of Cybernetics, had practical training at the School of Engineering of University Aalto, Espoo (Finland).

The aim of the training was to study the experience of the master’s training implementation on such courses as "Mechanical tests and characterization of the microstructure" (student learning using PBL-technology), “CAD / CAE systems”. Master’s Training in University Aalto is based on the concept of problem-based learning in small groups. The following topics were covered as part of the training:

  • identification and assessment of key competencies and learning outcomes within the framework of the given courses;
  • planning and training;
  • assessment of learning based on feedback;
  • workshops on teaching disciplines.

During the practical training, Russian faculty members reviewed a two-tier system of training at the University of Aalto, including techniques and approaches that are most appropriate to be used in development and implementation of the new TPU master's program "Performance engineering of the product life cycle processes."
