The Institute of Cybernetics of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and the Faculty of Informatics Technische Universitat Munchen (TUM) have the Cooperative Agreement in force concerning the Double Degree Master Program. This program allows graduate students from the Institute of Cybernetics of TPU and graduate students from the Faculty of Informatics of TUM who meet the requirements of the master’s program “Computer Science” of TPU and the master’s program “Informatics” of TUM to simultaneously pursue the M.Sc. degree from TPU and from TUM.

With the purpose of TUM DD programs development and presentation of the program opportunities to the future master students, TUM has held an information event for its double degree programs with its Master Program in Informatics and a series of personal meetings with the students and DD coordinator / supervisor on academic issues.

At this event on June 25-29, 2014 IC was represented by Inna M. Vorobeva, TPU IC manager on international cooperation and education and Victoria V. Osipova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Department of Control Systems Optimization

There have been made a presentation for the TUM students on studying at TPU, in Tomsk, Russia, opportunities for the international students proposed by TPU and DD TPU-TUM program. During the “get together with students” session there have been answered the questions of the students who are looking for the international education opportunities.

During the personal meetings with Prof. Dr. Michael Gerndt, Director on international affairs, and Dr. Angelika Reiser, TPU-TUM DD Coordinator at TUM, the following has been:

• current status of the program;
• issues relating to the Russian students’ academic progress at TUM;
• problems faced by Russian students at TUM during their study;
• ways to make German students join exchange Russian mobility / DD programs;
• schedule and curriculum of TPU – TUM DD program;
• proposals as to improve TPU – TUM DD program and make it more efficient.

During this personal meeting the TPU IC representatives presented the megaproject of the Institute of Cybernetics “Telecommunication monitoring and control systems for the unmanned underwater vehicles” and a new specialization «Information-communication technologies» which is planned to be implemented within TPU – TUM DD program and thus extend the selection opportunities of the English training courses for the international students. TPU Institute of Cybernetics expects TUM Department of Informatics to join this project as a prospective partner in the following activities:

• hold lectures by TUM Professors for TPU students;
• education mobility of the students;
• joint development of the module courses.

In addition there have been arranged a meeting with Dr. Heidi Mining on the issues of professional English training which is realized in TUM in the framework of the pilot project «Guided English Self-Study» based on MOOCs.

As a result of the meeting there have been signed a memorandum of the meeting.
