• 1969 – graduated from Tomsk Polytechnic Institute (now University) with honours degree, a diploma of mining engineer.

• 1972-1975 – a postgraduate student of Tomsk Polytechnic Institute (now University), defended a dissertation.

• 1976 – was conferred an academic degree on candidate of Geology and Mineralogy by Superior Attestation Committee of the USSR.

• 1999 – defended a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Geology and Mineralogy.

• 2001 – was conferred an academic rank on Professor of Geology and Mineralogy.
