Purpose: Students get theoretical and practical knowledge in the design methods and design principles of electrical machines based on permissible electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical loads, due to the scope, design features and electrical machine operation modes that allow students to solve successfully theoretical and practical tasks in their professional field related to the design, construction, production and operation of electrical machines.

Content. General and main dimensions of electrical machines. Electromagnetic and power input. Electromagnetic load. The connection of electromagnetic loads with the main dimensions of electrical machines. Basis of the magnetic circuit calculation: a magnetic air gap voltage; the coefficients of the magnetic field in the air gap dc machines, asynchronous, synchronous, salient-pole machines; ratio of the air gap, the magnetic voltage teeth shapes of the stator and rotor slots, the magnetic stator voltage backrest rotor; vector diagrams for different modes of operation of the electrical machine. Determination of resistive and inductive impedances of the windings: determining the resistances of the windings, the resistivity, the resistances of the windings of the asynchronous machine - the stator cage rotor; main inductive reactance and the inductive reactance of the windings of the scattering, the definition of the main inductive reactance of the asynchronous machine and synchronous salient pole machine, the leakage inductance of the resistance - slots windshield, differential, for the crown of the bevel.

Losses and efficiency. Fundamentals of thermal design. Design of asynchronous motors: General information about the series of asynchronous motors and their design features, power and height alignment rotation, deciphering the main engine designations. Calculation basis. Design of synchronous machines: basis of structural modification calculations. Design of DC machines, a series of dc machines, their calculation peculiarities.
