Electric discharge plasma treatment is a perspective technology applied for oxidation of toxic and refractory pollutants in water and air. The method employs the action of active oxidant species formed in air and on the air-water contact surface. These active species induce destruction of organic substances and oxidation of inorganic substances followed by precipitation. High efficiency of the method has been demonstrated for various types of organic substances: natural organic matter, oil products, phenolic compounds, carboxylic acids etc.
