Yakov Semenovich is the specialist within interdisciplinary field of research of medical and biological cybernetics.

In TPU Yakov Semenovich Pekker was an assistant professor and had the students in the field of medical equipment design and engineering. Then he participated in the creation of the first portable compact betatron. In cooperation with medical scientists he worked on the problems of cardiology, psychotherapy. The first samples of medical electronic devices have been created under his leadership. Yakov Semenovich was invited to join Siberian State Medical University for development of research and training in the area of medical electronics and computer engineering for medical applications and patient diagnostics.

Yakov Semenovich, as a scientific superviser, prepared eight candidates of technical sciences, and two candidates of medical sciences, as a scientific consultant – one doctor of technical sciences, three candidates of medical sciences. Author of more than 240 publications (14 training manuals, 155 scientific papers). His scientific achievements include eight monographs, more than 70 inventor certificates and patents (14 overseas) and certificates of registration of computer programs. Yakov Semenovich was awarded with the Honorary Figure of Russian Higher Education.
