Ekaterina V. Tsoi was born in Karaganda (Kazakhstan). In 1996 she finished Gymnasium No. 24 in Tomsk, Russia. From 1996 to 2001 she studied at the Philological Faculty of Tomsk State University. From 2002 to 2005 Ekaterina V. Tsoi attended full-time postgraduate degree courses at Tomsk State University. In 2009 she defended a Candidate’s dissertation "Adverbial conversives in modern Russian language (a case study of denominative formations)", under the supervision of Galina I.Klimovskaya, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of General linguistics, Tomsk State University.
Since October 2007 Ekaterina V. Tsoi has been working at the Department of Russian as a foreign language at the Institute of international education and language communication of Tomsk Polytechnic University. Since 2010 she has occupied the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Russian as a foreign language.
She is an author of 12 scientific papers (including 3 articles in peer-reviewed journals) and 4 study guides.
