Alexander Melnikov was born on November 26, 1954 in Abakan. He graduated from School No. 170 in Krasnoyarsk-45 in 1972. Entered the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1976. Graduated from TPU in 1981 with the qualification of Metallurgical Engineer majoring in Metal Science and Heat Treatment. He has been working as a researcher at the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science since 1984, defended his Candidate of Sciences thesis in 1993. He has been the staff member – assistant professor of the Department of Materials Science and Process Metallurgy of TPU since 2002.
