Research areas:
  • To develop diagnostics methods and tools for microprocessor systems developed on the base of modern microprocessor sets.
  • To create methodological foundation and software tools for students’ distant education by using Internet-technologies.
  • To create algorithms for information compression, their software and hardware implementation.
  • To develop mathematical and software support for geo-information systems for different purposes.
  • To create methods, algorithms, software tools for automatic decoding of aerospace photographs of earth surface.
  • To model radio waves scattering on ionospheric plasma disturbance created by spacecrafts.
  • To develop methods of processing digital images by using artificial neural networks and evolutionary algorithms.

Within the scientific areas budget and commercial agreement work ordered by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation as well as researches awarded a grant by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research are carried out every year. The scientific school of geo-information science by Professor N.G. Markov was officially recognized to be a leading Russian school and was funded by the Russian President grant ‘Support of Leading Scientific Schools of Russia’ in 2000-2002.

Every year the teaching staff and postgraduates publish over 40 articles and theses on research results in domestic and foreign issues, make 12-15 reports in Russian and international scientific conferences. Over the period of 1997-2008 a large number of reports were presented abroad at conferences in the USA, South Korea, Italy, Holland, Spain, Brazil, Finland, the Czech Republic, etc.
