Students’ research:

The themes of students’ scientific and academic research are closely connected with the scientific areas of the Department. It allows students not only to get deep specialist knowledge but also to orient themselves in modern scientific directions of information and computer sciences.

Students’ design department ‘Signature’ and research laboratory ‘GIS’ take an active part in the Department life. The informal students’ society ‘MSClub’ and programmers’ club ‘Algorithm’ are also actively involved. The members of the club ‘Algorithm’ participate in regional, All-Russian, and international competitions in information science and programming.

Students’ scientific works always take prize-winning places in university and All-Russian competitions of research works. There are a lot of students who have won in students’ competitions and contests: 2003 – 20 students, 2004 – 43 students, 2005 – 50 students, 2006 – 46 students. A number of students and postgraduates have become Laureates of Tomsk Oblast Governor Prize for education and science. Students always take part in different scientific conferences. They have been awarded certificates and letters of commendation for excellent reports: 2005 – 4 students, 2006 – 4 students. Students have published their articles and reports: 2005 – 19 papers, 2006 – 20 papers. Some people have been awarded a medal for ‘Great Services to Tomsk Polytechnic University’: 2005 – 4 persons, 2006 – 3 persons. Students participate in carrying out budget and commercial agreement work: 2003 – 2 students, 2004 – 8 students, 2005 – 11 students, 2006 – 9 students.
