The first recertification was run in November, 2012. 23 Professional Engineers in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering confirmed the compliance with the requirements of the APEC Engineer certification and registration. The main evidence of compliance was continuous professional development.

The international seminar «Development of Engineering Professionals in APEC Economies» took place on May 22-23, 2012 in Kazan (Tatarstan, Russia). The seminar was an international forum for researches, engineers and government officials to present and discuss the latest research results, ideas and developments in all areas of professional engineering.

The covered issues were engineering profession regulation, standards and requirements for engineering education, engineers' mobility, professional accreditation of education engineering programs, modernization of economy and technological development in APEC countries.
