During the last few years, the laboratory has been carrying out studies of the electric pulse method of drilling hard rock under the contract with the Swiss SwissGeoPower Investment AG. In 2016, an experimental electric impulse drilling rig was constructed and mounted on the TPU site. In 2017, a sample of granite was prepared for drilling a test well with a diameter of approx. 400 mm and a depth of up to 15 m by the electric pulse method in conditions close to the field ones. Currently, the equipment is being debugged and the optimal drilling mode is selected.
