Expert in climatology and atmospheric optics.
Made a considerable contribution to the development of laser sounding of the atmosphere. The unique Siberian Lidar station, where monitoring of stratospheric aerosol perturbations has been performed for about 30 years, was developed under my direction.
15 PhDs and 6 doctors of science successfully defended their theses under my guidance.
Major research interest: - Volcanogenic perturbations of global stratosphere.
- Volcanoes and climate change.
- The ozone layer depletion caused by volcanoes.
- Biosphere response to ozone layer variations.
