Educational Background

Vladimir Panin graduated in Electrical Power Engineering from the Tomsk Polytechnic University in 1962. He was graduate student at the Department of High-Voltage Technology in 1962-1965. He received a Ph.D. in Technical Science a thesis entitled “Investigation of dielectric strength to the methodology of selection of test pulse waves.



He was Associate Professor of the Theoretical Electrotechnic Department of Tomsk Polytechnic University in 1965-1982 and Dean of the Electrical Power Engineering Faculty in 1967-1969.



He led the development of systems early fire detection on Base Contracts in 1967-1990.



He was Head of The Ecology and Human Safety Department at Tomsk Polytechnic University in 1982-2009.



He received a D.Sc. in the field of life-support systems in special conditions with thesis ”Development of the Theory, methods and technical means of detection of fires and explosions on board the unique Flying machines” at the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1990.



He received the title of professor In 1991 and he honorary title of Distinguished Professor of Tomsk Polytechnic University in 2008.



He continues to research into the early detection of fire hazard and research in the field pollution of surface air in urban areas. He has published of co-authors a number of monographs, textbooks and teaching aids for ecology. He also teaches on undergraduate and Masters courses at the Tomsk Polytechnic University.
