My research focuses on literature of the long 19th century, with a particular emphasis on the work of F.M. Dostoevsky. My first study, The Brothers Karamazov by F.M. Dostoevsky in English translations, examines 7 basic translations of the final Dostoevsky’s novel revealing the peculiarities of the applied translation strategies and the ways to interpret writer’s complex concepts and characters. More recently, I have been working on the analysis of the first adaptations of The Brothers Karamazov that appeared in the West, precisely, an early French version done by Jacques Copeau and Jean Croue and its English translation. All my work aims to address the significance and complexity of translation process being regarded as a foundation of any cultural interaction. My research interests are as follows: translation studies, comparative literature, history of Russian literature, aesthetic of reception, literary sociology, and semiotics.
