Theoretically and experimentally investigated adhesion of molten metal splashes to the surface of welded products and welding equipment parts.

It is shown that the adhesion of molten metal splashes to the surface occurs only at a certain heat content and oxidation state of spray. It depends on the state of the surface of the parts welded and welding equipment parts, for which there is a sufficiently large number of physical and chemical bonds formed between the atoms of the molten metal splashes and products.

Theoretically and experimentally dependence of the molten metal droplet contact angle on the work peace surface state and welding conditions was determined.

The technological properties of protective coatings were investigated.

The effect of protective coatings on electrical and technological parameters of the welding process, technical, economic and sanitary characteristics was determined. It is found that most of the protective coatings known lead to an increase in the arc length and the size of droplets on the electrode, reducing the frequency of their transition into the seam, and increased spattering gaze and dust excretion.

The technique of the protective coating consumption rationing and methods of applied protecting coating layer thickness was suggested.
