Currently, Roman Tabakaev is exploring heat technologies in the processing of low-rank fossil fuel (peat, biomass, brown coals), X-ray investigation of the properties of boiler tube materials, and flameless utilization of liquid hydrocarbon wastes in a porous medium. The results of the research were heat technologies of solid composite fuel production from low-grade raw materials, several ways of X-ray diagnostics of boiler steels and technical solutions of fuel-burning appliances. His research studies are supported by federal target programs, RF Ministry of Education and Science as part of Science State Program, Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology, Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Fund of Tomsk Region, and Tomsk Polytechnic University. In recognition of his achievements, Roman Tabakaev was awarded numerous medals and diplomas of scientific and technical contests and expositions. Author of over 50 scientific papers published both in Russia and abroad; 15 RF patents for inventions.
