As a result of the development of the discipline the student will have:

- Know the classification of different types of materials; Modern ideas about the methods of production of functional materials (ultrafine powders, glass, ceramics, films and single crystals); The physical and chemical properties of the functional materials;

- Be able to select the type of the functional material depending on its use

- Own (methods, techniques) knowledge of modern trends in materials science and the creation of new generations of advanced materials
