Annotation to discipline The main objectives of teaching the course "Historical Geology, principles of stratigraphy, paleontology" are: to develop in students the geological worldview; creating the basis for further specialized knowledge, skills and abilities in the process of examining all subsequent geological disciplines, qualified to conduct of works on geological mapping, prospecting, and exploration for minerals. Student, studied the discipline of "Historical Geology, principles of stratigraphy, paleontology" with paleontological method to learn how to determine the age of geological formations, to navigate freely in the geologic time (stratigraphic) scale, analysis of primary geological materials (stratigraphic column, schematic geological sections, etc.), to recover on the basis of this analysis of the history of geological development of regions, to be able to read a geological map.
