Research Areas
Geotechnical Engineering
The focus of research activity is computational mechanics. Projects include constitutive modelling of geomaterials, rehabilitation of dams, soil-pipeline interaction, liquefaction of soils during earthquake loading, and soil-structure interaction, including the behaviour of pavement structures to dynamic loading.
Earth Surface Processes
The focus of the Earth Surface Processes is on earth and atmospheric processes occurring in the near-surface zone. Research areas include physical hydrology and surficial geoscience. Emphasis is placed on understanding the impacts of human activities on the physical environment, including land-use and surface and groundwater quality.
