From 1996 to 2005, Tabaev AU was engaged in research work in the direction of "geoinformation provision works in landscape analysis. From 2005 to 2009 - in the direction of Social work, advertising and public relations in the new communicative space". Tabaev AU was head of student theses of Tomsk branch of RSSU, more than 20 people have defended final qualifying work under his leadership.

Since 2009 scientific research associated with the methodology of teaching foreign students courses in Russian language.
