Extreme operating conditions of elements of the modern structures, their complex forms and large dimensions make semi-field and field experiments very expensive, especially those relating to the determination of the ultimate (failure) loads. Computer simulation is often the sole opportunity of conducting the express analysis of the engineering problem. The progress in the development of numerical methods allows to significantly extend the range of tasks subjected to this analysis. Data obtained as a result of application of these methods, are used practically in all spheres of science and technology. The structural analysis involves such important application as the finite element method. The displacement is the primary variable that are obtained during the structural analysis. Another important parameters are then obtained, proceeding form the computed displacements in the mesh points, namely: stress, elastic and plastic deformations, and others. The main principles of the computer-based structural analysis are presented by the largest-size program which possesses the extended computational capabilities. Keywords: Technical object design.
