Exhibition and Congress "High Technologies. Innovation. Investments» (HI-TECH) was held in St. Petersburg late March. TPU presented its five developments. All of them were honored with the highest awards. There were representatives from 539 companies and research institutions from 19 countries who participated in this International Exhibition and Congress HI-TECH. The products and technologies were presented by the scientists from Russia, Czech Republic, Germany, Belarus, Ukraine, Finland, Slovenia, China, Taiwan, Korea and other countries.

These days the Institute of Cybernetics hosts an annual event - TPU Festival of Microsoft's, where newly qualified IT-specialists - students, postgraduate students and scholars – have been mastering the new technologies during the workshops and conferences. Yesterday they defended their innovative projects at the regional stage of the international competition of technological projects Imagine Cup!

This week (from March 23 to March 27) 52 independent accreditation experts, the representatives of the HEIs from all over Russia have been working in the Institute of Cybernetics for the purpose of assessment of the quality of educational programs in the framework of the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor).

The Department of Integrated Computer Control Systems of the Institute of Cybernetics now possesses the smart android DARwIn. DARwIn-OP is a compact humanoid robot (android), which is in fact a unique robotic platform aimed for research and development in the framework of the educational process.

On March 18, 2015 (at 4.10 p.m., lecture hall 307, TPU campus bld. 10) there will be organized a lecture of the Institute of photonic research and synchrotron radiation (IPS), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT (Germany) by Professor of Experimental Physics Tilo Baumbach on the theme «Modern X-Ray Physics for Imaging Science» and IPS KIT PhD student Alexey Ershov on the theme «Automated Analysis of X-ray Data», related to use of computer analysis methods for processing solutions of the data obtained by means of X-ray radiation.

The faculty of the TPU Institute of Cybernetics visited the University of Wuppertal (Germany) during February 22 to February 28 in the framework of the project TEMPUS ACES «Applied Mathematics in Engineering and Science" of the European Union TEMPUS program. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the meeting of the working group for the development of the tutorials jointly with the professors of the University of Wuppertal for the Master's program "Applied Mathematics and Computer Science."

On February 24 there was held an official awarding ceremony for the winners of the university competition for the best scientific work of the undergraduates (Master students), the junior and senior students in natural sciences, technology and humanities. There was a careful selection of the research papers of the TPU students in 18 research areas of the university. The students of the Institute of Cybernetics not only won the prizes in all categories, but also were recognized as the most active participants, i.e. they presented the maximum papers for this competition!

On January 28, in the framework of cooperation between TPU and the Korean company «Fastech», the Institute of Cybernetics organized and held IV Russian-Korean scientific and technical seminar "Mechatronics: devices and control", addressed to the exchange of knowledge between the parties. The Korean company «Fastech» is specialized in modern development systems and production of motion control systems. Institute of Cybernetics and «Fastech» have been partners for the past 10 years already!

Tomsk Polytechnic University launched the academic competition "Breakthrough". Its winners will be able to enter the Masters’ degree programs on a fee-free budgetary basis before the enrollment campaign starts. Who may participate: bachelor graduates and specialists, as well as senior students of Russian and foreign universities.

The joint seminar of the Institute of Cybernetics and Institute of Marine Technology Problems, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, "Current state and development trends of underwater robotics" was held the other days in the main building of TPU. The main topic of discussion was the state and development trends of scientific cooperation of two research organizations in the field of underwater robotics.

On December 26 TPU and Siemens signed a cooperation agreement. The university and the company will jointly develop the advanced technical innovations, as well as train specialists. The Institute of Cybernetics has been already performing a joint project with Siemens, which aimed at ensuring the efficiency of technological processes of the product life cycle. Siemens is one of the world leading companies, which is engaged in complex activities – R&D, manufacture and production of own. By becoming a partner, TPU and Institute of Cybernetics join these activities.

Lectures and seminars held by Professor Diego Karatelli for the students and researchers of the Institute of Cybernetics In the framework of the program for competitive growth of Tomsk Polytechnic University the Department of Computer-Aided Measurement Systems and Metrology of the Institute of Cybernetics invited Dr. Diego Karatelli, R&D director of the company «The Antenna Company Nederland B.V.». He got his Master's degree and PhD at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, and worked for a long time in the International Center of telecommunications and radar of the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands. Dr. Diego Karatelli publishes on the average 5-7 articles per year in the notated world-known journals with impact factor of 3-4, his h-index is 12.

Institute of Cybernetics hosted the designers from Finland On November 27 TPU representatives, Alena A. Zakharova, Director of the Institute of Cybernetics, Evgenia V. Vekhter, acting Head of the Department of engineering graphics and industrial design, and Inna M. Vorobeva, manager on international education and cooperation of the Institute of Cybernetics, welcomed honorary delegation from Finland.
