History About the faculty

General Chemical Engineering Faculty was organized in 1930 at Siberian chemical technological institute, separated off Siberian technological institute. Professor, doctor of t. science Vsevolod N. Stabnickov was the first Head of the Department from 1930 till 1938. The faculty got its contemporary name in 1936 when it began to specialize in teaching chemical-technological processes.
In 1999 former faculties of CHEMISTRY & CHEMICAL ENGINEERING Department were: Machinery for Chemical Manufacturing and Construction Materials Enterprises, Chemical Engineering of Inorganic Substances, Electrochemical Manufacturing Engineering which became a part of General Chemical Engineering Faculty.

From 1965 till 2000 General Chemical Engineering Faculty trained engineers in “Fundamental Processes in Chemical Manufacturing and Cybernetics”. There were 528 specialists who graduated from the faculty within those years. Besides, up to 650-700 students of General Chemical Engineering Faculty, Geological Survey Faculty , Faculty of Applied Physics & Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering were taught “General Chemical Engineering”, “Processes and Appliances of Chemical Engineering” annually

The faculties have trained:

  • More than 1500 engineers-mechanics (specialty "Machinery for Chemical Manufacturing and Construction Materials Enterprises ")
  • More than 1000 engineers –technologists  in mineral fertilizers manufacturing, salts, alkali, large-capacity products of the main inorganic synthesis (specialty    " Chemical Engineering of Inorganic Substances ")
  • More than 1400 engineers –technologists  in electro chemistry (specialty    " Electrochemical Manufacturing Engineering ")

For training engineers the faculty provides: modern teaching -laboratory base, specialized computer class and scientific laboratories. Methodical maintenance corresponds to modern level of training specialists.
Students have general-purpose engineering and pre-diploma practice at enterprises of Moscow region, Tomsk and other Siberian towns (Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk, Blagoveshchensk, Novosibirsk, and Omsk). Our graduates, many of whom are managers, work at the enterprises of these towns.
Scientific trends of the faculty are:

  • Development of  apparatus with аппаратов с direct electro heating
  • Theory and practice of  balling (granulation) disperse multicomponent systems and fiber materials
  • Getting active oxides of metals by electro synthesis using alternating current
  • Metallization of  non-conducting  materials and corrosion research of metal

Staff of the faculty always takes part in development and application of modern technologies and technical regulations of different chemical enterprises
