Learning Outcomes: Course Objectives and Content: The course is a part of vocational cycle of general program and oriented to students studying materials science at the department “Nanomaterials and nanotechnology” of Tomsk polytechnic university. The up-to-date techniques of nanomaterial synthesis are presented in this subject. The aim of the course is to get knowledge of physical methods of synthesis of various materials with nanocrystalline structure, become proficient in theoretical and practical skills of the main processes of nanostructure formation.
Course Outline: - Section 1. Techniques for nanopowder synthesis
- Section 2. Nanocrystalline coating
- Section 3. Layered nanomaterial formation
- Section 4. Synthesis of bulk nanomaterials
- Section 5. Synthesis of nanoparticles/nanoclusters within various matrix.
- Section 6. Nanomaterial forming by different radiation effect
- Section 7. Development of surface properties of materials. Surface modification
Course Delivery: one semesters, 18 weeks Prerequisites: Physics; Chemistry; Mathematics; Diffraction, spectroscopic and probe methods of nanomaterial investigation Co-requisites: Powder techniques of nanomaterial consolidation; Technological processes of the bulk nanomaterial consolidation and good manufacturing Final Assessment: pass/fail test Course Developer: Alexandra A.
