Ph.D. Maxim Saltymakov is currently an associate professor at the Tomsk Polytechnic University. Saltymakov has a doctorate in Condensed Matter Physics.Prior to his current appointment he was a research assistant at the Ion Accelerator Group of the High-Voltage Research Institute where he worked on Pulse ion deposition of thin-film coatings.

Saltymakov has significant expertise in the fields of semiconductor engineering, and thin-films engineering. His research focuses on multidisciplinary engineering simulation and development, which combines a range of analytical, computational and experimental techniques at the surface morphology, composition and electrical properties. His research interests cover a wide range of materials and alloys used in industry.

Particular research interests include:

1. Modeling of hydrodynamic processes and the features of correct measurement of properties for fluids and gases

2. Vacuum deposition of thin-film coatings (semiconductor and biologically compatible)
3. Technology for the formation of nanoscale particles of silicon carbide (SiC) and nanodiamond These interests are reflected in his recent and ongoing research collaborations with academic institutions such as Research Institute of Semiconductor Devices (Tomsk), Institute of High Current Electronics Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (Tomsk) and Belarusian State University (Minsk). The research project on hydrodynamics and hydromechanics were also joint collaboration with industrial sponsor, Gasprom.
