“I really enjoyed the course and it is a bit sad, that it had to end already. You have been one of the best prepared lecturers I have experienced here at TPU until now. The lectures were well-structured and interesting. Unfortunately it is - especially within the short period of time - difficult for technicians and natural scientists to get into meaningful philosophical discussions, as we are not used to this way of arguing and thinking. However, I think we understood the importance of philosophical questions of and about science/technology.”

Emanuel Willert (Berlin) 2013, 2 degree program, course “Philosophy of science and technique”, lecturer N. Pogukaeava.

“I am Ashok Raja from India. I joined Tomsk Polytechnic University in the year 2003 for my masters program. It was my first time in Russia and first acquaintance to a new culture. Since the language, climate, people and life style was different; I had a hard time in concentrating on studies. I was very fortunate to meet Ms Natalia Pogukaeva, who was teaching me”Philosophy of Science”. Even though I was interested in Philosophy, it was a pleasure to be in Ms. Natalia’s class. Right from the very first day till the end, it was a thought-provoking and educative class every time. Ms. Natalia was well planned in advance, perfect in time table and was confident in what she said. It is a must to mention that she added her thoughts in various philosophical ideas and cared a lot to know what we thought.

I still remember the very first class with Ms. Natalia. It began with the quote: “A person becomes a philosopher when he starts to think”. Each and every class made us think from the very depths of our heart and we continued thinking until the next class. Me and my friends were late for other classes but always came early for the Philosophy class. We also waited for the next class to come soon.

    The Philosophy class was •
  1. Thoughtful and thought provoking •
  2. Well planned •
  3. Very understandable •
  4. Filled with facts needed for life •
  5. It made us think
