Since 2002 comprehensive experiment designed to study the annual balance carbon dioxide exchange between the Lake Baikal water and the atmosphere and its relationship to external factors is carried out on the Lake Baikal.
We tested chamber technique of CO2 flux measurement and created the appropriate equipment.
The complex consists of measuring chambers: a closed and ventilated; equilibrator is the device for measuring the partial pressure of dissolved in water gases; Multi-Gas Detectors CO2 control system and data collection, a personal computer (PC), specialized software (SW) (Figure 1).

This complex has already been tested in different hydrological seasons at Lake Baikal. by means of it the long series of observations was obtained (Figure 2). On the basis of these data has been given a preliminary assessment of the air-sea balance of the exchange of carbon dioxide for the littoral zone of Lake Baikal during the open water. the total intake of gas in the littoral zone of the lake is 3 .. 5 gCO2 m 2 per year.
