Alexander G. Karengin was born in 1950 in the Pokrovka village, Kemerovo Region. 1968-1974 - Tomsk Polytechnic University, Faculty of Applied Physics and Engineering, Department of Applied Physics Engineering (Department 23), area of specialization is Separation and Application of Isotopes (with honours). 1974-1987 – engineer, junior research fellow of Department of Applied Physics Engineering (Department 23). 1981-1984 – senior research fellow of Institute of Atmospheric Optics (Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Siberian Branch). 1984-1985 – senior research fellow of Institute of Strength Physics and Material Science (Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Siberian Branch) 1985-1994 – divisional manager, department supervisor, acting vice director of Republican Reconstruction and Hardening Machinery Center (Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Siberian Branch). 1994-1995 – director of “Technosinthesis LLP”. 1995-1996 – senior research fellow of Department of Applied Physics Engineering (Department 23) in Tomsk Polytechnic University. 1996- present – associate professor of Department of Applied Physics Engineering (Department 23) in Tomsk Polytechnic University. 2001 – Tomsk Education and Science Award. 2003 – TPU Award for research work. 2008 - further training “Competency building approach in design of academic program” (Tomsk). 2008 – further training “Multiscale simulation of nanoobjects, nanostructures and nanomaterials SIAMS-CP Nanjtech” (Ekaterinburg).
