A systematic experimental study of hydrodynamics, heat transfer and crisis phenomena in a smooth liquid film (Re <10) flowing down under the influence of gravity along a plate wall with small size heater was carried out. The formation of regular structures in the form of three-dimensional formations on the film surface was observed for the first time ever. The discovering of regular structures caused a wide response both in the Russian and foreign science. At present, experimental and theoretical research into this direction is being conducted in more than 10 scientific groups in Russia and abroad. The formation of regular jet streams into the gravitational flow of a liquid wave film along an extended heater is recorded for the first time ever. The features of the flow and breakdown of a liquid film moving under the action of a gas flow in a horizontal channel are studied experimentally.
