The discipline goal is to study genetic and geological and industrial peculiarities of mineral deposits. This discipline is for organizing of the students' ability to understand, analyze and investigate the ore-forming processes in the Earth crust, to be conversant in the issues of industrial typing of mineral deposits and mineral economics.

The discipline is aimed at the forming of the students' system approach to the geological knowledge of the world, concept of matter unity and interrelation on the Earth and in outer space, its natural and natural and anthropogenic geosystem; at the forming of deep insight of geological processes nature at the level of atoms, molecules and their compounds.
