Master program 18.04.01 Chemical Technology Qualification of the graduate: Master Course: Polymeric composite materials Annotation: One of the most important trends in the plasics development is represented by a multicomponent plastics systems creation which enables a desired large variation in the quality of polymeric materials. Significant improvements in the properties can be reached via additives introduction in polymer. Additives can be conveniently classified according to their function into various classes and subdivided according to their more specific function. According to their mode of action in polymer, aditives can be divided also into processing additives, flexibility agents, anti-ageing additives, surface properties modifiers, optical properties modifiers, pigments and dyes, fire retardants and foaming additives. The course is intended to provide understanding of polymeric composite materials. It covers the characteristic properties of common polymers and relates these properties to the structure of the polymers, their synthesis, modification, and manufacture. Additives for polymers, compounding, and common processing methods for transforming polymers into composite are covered. Principles of fundamental obtaining techniques for polymer composite materials (plastics, fibrous materials and rubbers) are presented. Subject expands the knowledge obtained in course "Chemistry and Physics of Polymers".
