Russia's largest developer of engineering software held a visit to establish the partnership with the Institute of Cybernetics
On November 20, 2014 the representatives of the company C3D Labs, the only developer of geometric modeling kernel in Russia, held a visit to the Institute of Cybernetics. C3D Labs is a resident of "Skolkovo" and used to be a mathematical division of the corporate group ASCON, which is the Russia's largest developer of engineering software. KOMPAS-3D, well-known software system for three-dimensional modeling, was created based on C3D kernel. The representatives of C3D Labs visited Tomsk to establish the partnership with the largest RF universities, including TPU and in particular Institute of Cybernetics.

The event was organized by the Innovation Center Microsoft of TPU. Alexander Belotserkovski (Moscow) - Leading Expert of Microsoft Rus (Tech Evangelist Cloud, Internet of Things & HPC) - was invited to hold the training.

Associate Professor of the Australian University gives a set of lectures on "System Analysis" for the Bachelor foreign students of the TPU Institute of International Education and Language Communication enrolled in English programmes and for the Master students of the Institute of Cybernetics.In the framework of the program “On invitation of the leading scientists (industrial experts) to hold the lectures” Soon Wee Sun, Associate Professor of the Higher Education Department of the Institute of Engineering and Technology of the Central University of Queensland, Australia, has been invited to give her course of system analysis in English at TPU for three weeks from October 21, 2014 till November 7, 2014.
Faculty members of the Institute of Cybernetics made a visit to Finland in the framework of TEMPUS
Late August 2014 16 faculty members of four Russian universities, including from TPU which was represented by four members of the department "Automation and robotics in mechanical engineering" of the Institute of Cybernetics, had practical training at the School of Engineering of University Aalto, Espoo (Finland). The aim of the training was to study the experience of the master’s training implementation on such courses as "Mechanical tests and characterization of the microstructure" (student learning using PBL-technology), “CAD / CAE systems”. Master’s Training in University Aalto is based on the concept of problem-based learning in small groups.
The Institute of Cybernetics undergoes the international accreditation of ASIIN
On September 23 - 24 an expert team of international accreditation agency ASIIN visited the Institute of Cybernetics. The purpose of the visit was to hold an audit and accreditation of one of the master's educational programs of the Institute, namely "Computer Science and Engineering". On September 23, during an opening meeting of the ASIIN experts and TPU coordinators on accreditation and representatives of TPU rectorate there were discussed such issues as the level of bachelor's and master's training programs, the history of the two-tier system of education in the Institute and how these master programs are integrated in the TPU development program.
The Day of the Institute of Cybernetics!
The Institute of Cybernetics announced a new tradition which is dedicated to the celebration of the official professional holiday - Day of the software programmer, which is celebrated annually on the 256 calendar day. We invite everybody to take part in the celebrations of the Day of the TPU Institute of Cybernetics, which will be held from September 12 to 14, 2014!
The Nobel prize winner will consider the megaproject of the Institute of Cybernetics
The world-renowned scientists, who are the members of the TPU International Scientific Council headed by Nobel laureate, Dan Shechtman, visited the Institute of Cybernetics, and evaluated the megaproject of the Institute which is one of six major research projects of TPU. The project "Telecommunication monitoring and control systems for the unmanned underwater vehicles", aimed at the development of robotics and marine technologies for ocean research and decision-making in emergency situations, was presented and discussed during the meeting.

Department of Automated Engineering Technology of the Institute of Cybernetics has signed an agreement with the company "Industrial Mechanics" on development of the production technology of the collimator housing with burnishing operations and manufacturing of the automatic facility for the burnishing operations. The amount of the contract with the company is 10 million rubles.

The Institute of Cybernetics held the meeting with the rector of TPU Peter S. Chubik. During the meeting there was presented and discussed the project of the Institute "Telecommunication systems for monitoring and control of unmanned underwater vehicles" aimed at the development of marine robotics and technologies for ocean research and decision-making in emergency situations.
Two students of the Institute of Cybernetics have been awarded a scholarship of the British oil company British Petroleum!
The 4th year students of the Institute of Cybernetics, Dmitry Starikov and Eugene Rybakov, won a competition for a special grant from the oil and gas group British Petroleum. The Programme of the student’s support by BP was launched in 2011 to encourage the talented and promising student.

Authorized Testing Center of the Institute of Cybernetics successfully passed out the unscheduled inspection by Pearson VUE
Since the Training Center TPU & Softline on the basis of the Institute of Cybernetics has received the status of authorized testing center, it was the first time of unscheduled inspection by Pearson VUE with testing method «mystery shopper». The idea of inspection was to assess the working methods of the Center for their compliance with the standards of Pearson VUE and verify that the Training Center follows the policy of Pearson VUE in the performance of its obligations.
Enrolment campaign: the growing number of the incoming foreign Masters at Institute of Cybernetics
The plans as per the number of the Masters to be admitted to Institute of Cybernetics are about to be fulfilled. Future undergraduates from other universities wish to continue their studies at Institute of Cybernetics in the chosen specialization due to the fact that the Institute provides a comprehensive training supported with all necessary conditions for professional development.
Visit of IC's representatives to TUM
With the purpose of TUM DD programs development and presentation of the program opportunities to the future master students, TUM has held an information event for its double degree programs with its Master Program in Informatics and a series of personal meetings with the students and DD coordinator / supervisor on academic issues.

IC's students took part in Summer School 2014 (Germany): Developing Mobile Applications
This years' summer school "Developing Mobile Applications" took place from June 2nd to June 27th. Our Canadian guest professors Gerhard Dueck and Kenneth Kent (both University of New Brunswick) hosted the sessions and coached a small group of international summer students who worked intensively on practical projects.
Two students from the Institute of Cybernetics, Kristina Tyumentseva und Liubov Ushko, represented TPU and actively participated in this summer school.
