The Institute of Cybernetics undergoes the international accreditation of ASIIN

On September 23 - 24 an expert team of international accreditation agency ASIIN visited the Institute of Cybernetics. The purpose of the visit was to hold an audit and accreditation of one of the master's educational programs of the Institute, namely "Computer Science and Engineering".

The team of experts included: Mila Zarkh, ASIIN Office, Heinz-Peter Gumm, Prof. Dr., Philipps-Universität Marburg, Jörg Keller, Prof. Dr., FernUniversität in Hagen, Harald Joachim Loose, Prof. Dr., Fachhochschule Brandenburg – University of Applied Sciences, Jürgen Fritz Wilhelm Schaldach, T-Systems GEI GmbH.

On September 23, during an opening meeting of the ASIIN experts and TPU coordinators on accreditation and representatives of TPU rectorate there were discussed such issues as the level of bachelor's and master's training programs, the history of the two-tier system of education in the Institute and how these master programs are integrated in the TPU development program. After that, the experts visited the departments and research laboratories of the Institute.

On September 24 a meeting was held with the Master students of the 1st and 2nd year of "Computer Science and Engineering." During the meeting, the ASIIN representatives established a friendly dialogue with the students and learned more about their student academic and research life. After this meeting with the students the experts audited the modules and assessment materials, and also met with the faculty of the Institute.

During the final meeting with the TPU coordinators the ASIIN experts made conclusions and presented their recommendations, as well as set deadlines for reporting information to be presented by the Institute, for providing an expert report and a report of the Accreditation Commission. The final meeting of the commission will be held early December 2014, during which the decision will be made on the Institute’s master's program accreditation.
