At present the staff of the department of higher mathematics constitutes 47 people. The department provides the teaching of the following courses: linear algebra, analytical geometry, calculus, higher mathematics, probability theory, mathematical statistics, numerical methods and some other mathematics special sections for students of computer science faculty, Institute of Electrical Engineering, technical elite education faculty, thermal power engineering faculty, mechanical engineering faculty, Institute of Geology and Oil & Gas Industries, and humanities faculty.

Approximately half of the first and second year TPU students pass the mathematics preparation at the department of Higher Mathematics.

The experienced staff (including 4 professors and 24 associate professors) do all to offer each student a possibility to get firm knowledge of mathematics.
The department of Higher Mathematics is thoroughly provided with teaching materials, written by the staff, grasping all the basic disciplines at the day-time and evening-time teaching. We have a wonderful computer class and many of the staff use modern education technologies.

The department of Higher Mathematics provides students of various specialties with the fundamental preparation in mathematics. The department also prepares postgraduates and doctoral students.
