First graduates of our department.

During 80 years more than 2600 engineers have graduated. And there are many outstanding specialists among them:

Modern equipment is necessary element for engineer training and we always try to renew our laboratories. There are such laboratories covering the key fields of welding:

  • metallography of weld joints,
  • strength of weld joints and structures,
  • advanced welding methods,
  • simulation of welding,
  • arc welding technologies,
  • resistance welding technologies,
  • automation of welding,
  • non-destructive testing in welding.

Applied science is a great part of the department’s life. We currently advance many R&D directions such as:

  • equipment and technology of arc welding with impulse control;
  • energy source and technology for thin-plate resistance welding;
  • equipment and technology of superplasticity friction welding;
  • equipment and technology of pipeline unturning joints;
  • developing of compact X-ray units;
  • non-destructive imaging and testing;
  • modern welding software developing.
