Olga Nazarenko graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Tomsk Polytechnic University in 1985. She worked for High Voltage Research Institute for 15 years mainly in the electric discharge laboratory. Olga Nazarenko received a Ph.D. in Technical Sciences in 1996 with a thesis entitled “Features of the products formation of the electric explosion of wires in condensed medium”. She became an Associate professor of Ecology and Human Safety Department at the Tomsk Polytechnic University in 2000. She continued to work on studying the electrical explosion of wires as method for nanopowder production and received in 2007 a D.Sc. in Processes and Apparatus of Chemical Technology with a thesis entitled “Processes of the production of nanoscale refractory compounds and metals under electric explosion of wires”. She was appointed as Professor in 2008. Her current research interests continue to be dominated by characterization of nanoscale powders and their application in different fields. In addition she has become actively involved in study of wastewater treatment processes in natural minerals. She is Programme Organiser for the MSc in Technosphere Safety. She also teaches on undergraduate and Masters courses at the Tomsk Polytechnic University.
